Dr. Laura Hunter was re-elected to the board of trustees of America’s Public Television Stations.
WASHINGTON – February 1, 2023 – America’s Public Television Stations (APTS) today announced the election of its board leaders and board members. Among the trustees re-elected is Utah leader, Dr. Laura Hunter. The officers and trustees will begin their terms on Tuesday, February 28, 2023.
Dr. Hunter is chief operating officer for Utah Education and Telehealth Network (UETN) and station manager for public broadcaster KUEN, providing robust broadband and broadcast services statewide. Her team oversees online learning platforms for all of Utah’s higher education institutions, schools, and public libraries. Hunter is a collaborative leader, recognized for finding innovative solutions to challenging problems. In addition to APTS, she also serves on the boards of the Independent Public Television Station Association and Vision Maker Media, the premier source of public media by and about Native Americans. Hunter holds a Ph.D. in Teaching and Learning with a research focus on educational technology and certificates in Public Leadership from Harvard University, Non-Profit Leadership from Georgetown University, and Diversity Leadership from Furman University.
In addition to Dr. Hunter, these leaders were re-elected to the APTS Board of Trustees: Dolores Fernandez Alonso, President and CEO of South Florida PBS in Miami, Florida; DeAnne Hamilton, Executive Director and General Manager of KBTC Public Television in Tacoma, Washington; and Dax Schieffer, Lay Trustee of MontanaPBS in Bozeman, Montana.
Newly elected officers include these individuals: Franz Joachim, General Manager and CEO of New Mexico PBS in Albuquerque, New Mexico, who has been elected Chair; Dolores Fernandez Alonso, President and CEO of South Florida PBS in Miami, Florida, who has been elected Professional Vice Chair; and David Steward II, Immediate Past Board Chair of Nine PBS in St. Louis, Missouri, who has been re-elected Lay Vice Chair. The newly-elected trustee is Anthony Padgett, President and CEO of South Carolina ETV (SCETV) Columbia, South Carolina.
